Washington DC (Washington Insider Magazine)- Vladimir Putin has ironically unleashed the biggest war in Europe since World War Two. As Ukraine is constantly learning from the West, it will turn out to be a big threat to them. Russians cannot feel safe and he wants to do something immediately. The reason why Putin is at war with Ukraine seems obvious for now. Nearly thousands of people have died since the war began. Small towns and cities like Mariupol are affected by the most deaths. However, the question remains why it is happening and when it will end?
Original Goal Of Putin
Its initial aim and plan of Putin were to take over Ukraine and dispose of the Government. He wanted to end it for good as Ukraine was planning to join NATO. After trying many times he failed to capture Kyiv and moved on to the East and South.
Putin is a shrewd leader who launched his invasion on February 24th and since then there is no looking back. His goal was to “demilitarize and de-Nazify Ukraine”. It seems that he wanted to protect Russia from eight years of bullying from Ukraine. Another objective is to ensure that Ukraine achieves a neutral status with this happening.
Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is suffering from this oppression the most. Moreover, Chief Sergei Naryshkin argues about the future of Russia. He believes that their future and place in the world are already at stake. Russian troops have tried to invade the presidential compound many times.
Many countries have condemned this war and want everything to settle down. However, Putin doesn’t seem to change his mind set about anything. According to Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of Ukraine: ‘The enemy has designated me as target number one; my family is target number two”.

Putin Doesn’t Consider It An Invasion Or War
The Russian leader is adamant and refused to call it an invasion and war. Moscow continues to have the biggest war since 1945. They believe it is more like a “special military operation”. According to Ukrainians, they don’t seem to understand what Russia is planning or is referring to. The foreign minister Dmytro Kuleba is frustrated over this situation and expressed it with the media many times.
Russia is currently accused by the international community in Ukraine. They are carrying out war crimes and killing people aimlessly. Several other countries like USA and Canada are calling it a genocide. Even after such big destruction, Putin is still not ready to stop. This is what he has to say: “It is not our plan to occupy the Ukrainian territory; we do not intend to impose anything on anyone by force.”
How Are Putin’s Aims Changing?
When the invasion first began the focus of Russia was on Kyiv. However, after a month they claim their main goal is the “liberation of Donbas”. They are focusing more on the Eastern regions now that include Luhansk and Donetsk. More than half of this area is taken by the Russian forces since the inception of the war.
According to the head of the Russian International Affairs Council: “Putin needs a victory. “At least he needs something he can present to his constituency at home as a victory.” The Russian officials will focus on two Eastern regions that are bigger than other areas.
Since the inception of the war, they are aiming at the control southern region of Kherson. The Russian general is further trying to seize the entire territory of the west. It connects the black sea coast and moves towards Odesa. Currently, Russia has employed over 1,500 troops in this region.
Is There A Way Out?
For now, there is no sign of negotiation from Russia’s side. They are not in the mood to end this war anytime soon. Initially, the Russian leader claimed to consider giving Ukraine some neutrality. However, nothing of this sort happened since the end of March.
While talking to the UN Secretary-General this is what Putin said: “We are negotiating, we do not reject [talks]”. All of it seems to be reaching a dead end with no concrete results. For some time now Ukraine is trying to join NATO. Volodymyr Zelensky is not keen on having any more talks with Russia due to their stubborn behavior.
The Russian leader seems to have a big problem with NATO. It is because the 30-member group is supporting Ukraine. They are aiming to split and destroy Russia with all their effort. NATO is expanding for since some time now and hopes to work harder than before.
