(Washington Insider Magazine) Writer Susan Meachen had been declared dead by her daughter two years ago, but recently posted on Facebook that she wants her life back.
Susan Meachen’s name has gone viral in recent days because she is a Tennessee romance writer who allegedly “came back from the dead” two years after her suicide was announced.
The story of this alleged case of resurrection began in September 2020, with a message on Facebook from someone who claimed to be the daughter of Susan Meachen, author of independent romantic novels, announcing that the writer had committed suicide.
Susan Meachen’s friends and colleagues were shocked to learn that she had taken her own life due to online bullying. After the announcement of her supposed death, tributes from fans and authors who had known her and had worked with her began to rain down.
For the next two years, Meachen’s Facebook profile was apparently used by her family to post tributes to the author and inspirational material, as well as to promote her books.
But a couple of days ago something strange happened: Susan Meachen or someone posing as the writer announced on Facebook that she wasn’t really dead and that she was writing again.
“I’ve debated how to do this a million times and I’m still not sure if it’s right or not,” read the post, which has since gone viral.
“There are going to be tons of questions and a lot of people leaving the group I guess. But my family did what they thought was best for me and I can’t blame them for that. I was about to die again by my own hand and they had to go through all that hell again. Going back to The Ward doesn’t mean much, but I’m in a good place now and I look forward to writing again. Let the fun begin,” the post added.
The Ward is the community of freelance writers on Facebook in which the above message was posted. Meachen was a member of it before her “passing away” from her, and everyone who had mourned her death was shocked by her revelation, especially by the jaunty tone of whoever wrote it.
Samantha A. Cole, a romance writer who is also a member of The Ward community, wrote on her Facebook account that she was completely horrified and stunned when she saw the post attributed to Susan in the Facebook group.
Cole also revealed images of screenshots of the chat she had with Susan Meachen’s account, who responded that she simply wanted to “get her life back” from her.
The Confusion Continues
Until now no one has been able to confirm 100% that the person behind the Facebook posts is really the freelance writer, even despite the efforts of journalists and major media outlets.
Despite the efforts of journalists from around the world, neither the author nor her family have commented on it. For now, all we have so far is the recent post in The Ward and the few interactions that Meachen has supposedly had in recent days.
However, CNN reports that authorities from the Benton City, Tennessee Police Department, where Meachen lives, are investigating the case, but said they could not confirm any legal claims against Meachen.
