Mike Pence’s Pledge on US Troops in Gaza

US (Washington Insider Magazine) —Former Vice President Mike Pence, who is running as a Republican candidate in the 2024 presidential primary, has expressed his position regarding the recent conflict in Gaza. During an interview with CNN host Jake Tapper, Pence expressed that if he were president, he would be willing to use US military force to rescue US citizens held hostage by the Palestinian militant group Hamas.

Pence highlighted, according to The Hill, the importance of protecting Americans and noted that he would give orders to the Joint Special Operations Command to prepare forces such as Delta Force and the Navy SEALs to collaborate with the Israel Defense Forces in an eventual rescue. .

In his statement, the former vice president indicated that he would give Hamas 12 hours to release the hostages before considering a military operation.

These statements by Mike Pence come after the release of two American citizens who had been taken hostage by Hamas during the conflict.

President Joe Biden expressed his satisfaction with the release of the hostages in a statement, assuring that the United States government will provide support to the freed people and their families in their recovery process.

More Republican voices

Mike Pence is not the only Republican presidential candidate who has raised the possibility of using military force in the conflict between Israel and Hamas, according to The Hill.

Asa Hutchinson, former governor of Arkansas and also a candidate in the 2024 Republican Party presidential primary, has stated that he would ask Congress to authorize the use of military force against Hamas if he became president.

Pence has been a harsh critic of Biden’s management in the case of Israel. A few weeks ago he suggested that the current administration’s policies have “set the conditions” for Hamas attacks in Israel.

“I have no doubt that Iran is behind, has subsidized, has approved and in the last day has even applauded this extraordinary terrorist attack by Hamas against Israel,” Pence said.

In addition to his criticism of the Biden administration, Mike Pence also questioned the foreign policy positions of other Republican presidential candidates, including former President Donald Trump, biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
