US (Washington Insider Magazine) – A situation to regret occurred this Sunday in the middle of the Greek super classic between Panathinaikos and Olympiacos after a pyrotechnic exploded next to the Spanish defender Juankar and he had to receive medical attention.
The match between Panathinaikos and Olympiacos was played for at least 50 minutes until fans of both teams began throwing objects and fireworks onto the field, forcing the main referee to stop the match.
However, what seemed like it would be a suspension for a few minutes ended up being postponed for more than two hours thanks to the attack against Juankar himself.
While the substitute players were on the sideline warming up to enter the match, a fan launched a firework that exploded right next to the defender, causing him to faint.
Later, the medical staff of both the team and the stadium approached the place where Juankar was affected to lift him on a stretcher to the ambulance and transfer him to a healthcare center.
This led to the Olympiacos players refusing to return to action, which led to the suspension of the match without knowing if it would resume in the future or be confiscated.
Unofficially, it was learned that the player is fine, although at the moment he remains under care due to dizziness as a result of the strong explosion.
At the time of the attack against the player, the match was tied 1-1 on the scoreboard thanks to goals from Georgios Vagiannidis (Panathinaikos) shortly after half an hour and at 49′ with a goal from Guinean Mady Camara.
This is not the first time that a similar event has occurred during a Greek classic. On several occasions the actions of the fans of both teams have led to a suspension of the match, one of the last times being in 2015 also due to problems with fireworks.
