Bidens welcome first cat to White House

WASHINGTON (Washington Insider Magazine) –  The Bidens have ultimately followed through on a long-standing promise to the American people, despite months of persuasion and evasive responses.

At long last, there is a first cat in the White House.

Willow is a 2-year-old with green eyes, gray and white stripes from Western Pennsylvania.

Jill Biden, the first lady of the United States, revealed the first feline news on Twitter on Friday morning.

Willow, dubbed after the first lady’s native of Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, has previously met the Biden family several times.

Willow, according to Michael LaRosa, the first lady’s press secretary, is the same cat who stole the show at a 2020 campaign visit when she strolled up on stage amid Biden’s comments.

Willow, a Pennsylvania farm cat, made an impression on Dr. Biden in 2020 when she leapt onto the stage and disrupted her words during a campaign rally. The property owner felt Willow belonged with Dr. Biden upon seeing their instant bond, he added.

Willow is settling in the White House with her favorite toys, food, as well as plenty of space to smell and explore, according to DeRosa.

Commander, the Bidens’ 4-month-old pure-bred German Shepherd canine who entered the White House in December, will be properly introduced.

After 3-year-old Major, the first rescue dog to reside in the White House, had to be rehomed due to behavioral difficulties, and Champ, the Bidens’ adored 13-year-old German Shepherd, passed away peacefully in the summer, the Bidens’ newest first pets have arrived.

In a late November 2020 conversation with CBS, the Bidens first mentioned their intention of bringing a cat to the White House, shortly after Biden came to power. In an interview with NBC in April, the first lady hinted that she had a female cat lined up when she stated of the impending cat adoption, “She’s waiting in the wings.”

Former President George W. Bush and first lady Laura Bush had a black short hair cat named India as a pet cat in the White House.

Former President Donald Trump, Biden’s predecessor, was the first president in over a century to not have a pet at the White House.
