Americans Join Israel Anti-Hamas Effort with Knives and Pepper Spray

US (Washington Insider Magazine) —An Israeli couple left the United States to return to their country and fight with “knives and pepper spray” against Hamas terrorists, who on October 7 began a series of violent attacks that have left hundreds dead and injured.

“Just some knives and pepper spray. You never want to use that stuff, but just in case. “I can’t show my face because I’m afraid, not only because I’m Jewish and Israeli, but also because I’m going to enlist in the reserves,” Gal told CNN while packing and organizing some of his belongings.

Gal has a two-year-old son with her husband Adam. They had lived in the United States since 2018, until a week ago they decided to return to Israel after they received many text messages and phone calls from their family and friends who are in Israel.

“It was the worst day in the history of Israel,” Adam told the international news network. “The rational part of my mind said, ‘Thank God we are here and not in Israel.’ After that initial relief, I had a tremendous desire to go and help. If I don’t go to Israel now, am I really Israeli?,” her wife added.

Israeli citizens scattered throughout various parts of the world have taken flights to the country to support the Army in the face of the attacks it has suffered.

“We formed our family. “We have a lot to lose here,” he acknowledged.

“This is very important,” she said.

Adam said that his grandparents are Holocaust survivors and that they know what will happen if they lose their nation. Therefore, he stated that for them, protecting Israel is guaranteeing its future.

Gal served in the Israeli Air Force, while Asam was in the Special Forces.

The man said that, after landing, they will visit one of his grandparents and that probably the next day they will both be wearing military uniforms.

“I’m scared, I’ve never been so scared in my life. For taking my son into an active war zone. I’m flying to a place that everyone is leaving. It’s like I can’t do anything else. “I have to go,” Gal said.
