Kyiv (Washington Insider Magazine)- Russia and Ukraine’s war has raised a lot of questions. One of the major concerns is that What if Ukraine joins NATO? What will be the consequences of this move taken by Ukraine? Ukraine’s President Zelensky must not put pressure on NATO membership now as this will raise the risk of a wider war. His focus should be on continuing arms deliveries from the West.
Nine NATO Members States Are Welcoming Ukraine
Nine NATO member states that belong to Eastern Europe and the Western Balkans are putting a lot of pressure on the military alliance and are forcing them to welcome Ukraine.
Is it understandable Ukraine wants to join a strong defensive military alliance like NATO however the timing is wrong? We all must acknowledge that the Ukrainian people’s heroic fight has been commendable for survival. But Zelensky should be careful for to overstretch as the West’s willingness to support him is important. It is right for Ukraine’s president to call for battle tanks. It is necessary to launch a successful plan in the east of the country. It is right for Zelensky to demand full support from the EU.
Ukraine With NATO Signifies That The War Has Begun
If Ukraine teams up with NATO it will signify that the war has begun and it will worsen the times ahead. The annexation of 4 regions of Ukraine will become a part of Russia and this has worried many parties. In response to this, the United Nations (UN) will be holding an emergency meeting on 2 October.
Russia vetoed UN Security Council resolutions that have been proposed by the United States and Albania. The countries have been condemning Moscow’s annexation of parts of Ukraine. US Ambassador and the United Nations Linda Thomas Greenfield have introduced a resolution that has been asking member states to avoid any kind of Ukraine change. They will be obliging Russia and will withdraw its troops.
There is Russia’s annexation that will make efforts and contradict UN principles. At least 10 countries have voted in favor of the resolution. There are countries like China, Gabon, India, and Brazil that are still abstaining. China has firmly criticized the Western sanctions that will be working against Russia. Neither has it supported or provided any assistance to Russia in its military campaign.

Meanwhile, the submission of Ukraine will be joining NATO. It is not entirely certain that the situation will go well. Nancy Pelosi who is the spokesman of the US president argued that “NATO remains in principle, wide open to any country. However, Ukraine’s desire to join NATO now needs to be carefully considered.” It could be a serious threat to the world if Ukraine decides to join NATO.
If Ukraine Joins NATO, NATO Will Join The War
A NATO accession of Ukraine will now be fundamentally wrong. If Ukraine becomes the new NATO member, then this would drag the alliance into the Ukraine war. Due to the alliance obligation, it will make it easier to defend other members. This could irritate Russian President Vladimir Putin and will move to such an extent. The situation will become much more unpredictable and will escalate further dramatically. This will urge the biological and chemical agents to get involved in nuclear risk.
The ranks within Russian elites will be closing the ranks in support of the Kremlin. When it comes to Ukraine’s efforts it will hasten its efforts if they join NATO. Dmitry Medvedev as Deputy Chair of the Russian Security Council said:
“Ukraine joining NATO is the same as accelerating the occurrence of world war 3”.
Furthermore, Henry Kissinger, who worked as the former US Secretary of State has also stated it. Scientist, diplomat, politician, geopolitical consultant, and veteran has also commented on the state between Russia and Ukraine at the moment.
According to Kissinger “Ukraine must cede territory to Russia if it wants peace”. He also shared that “it would be unwise for the United States to include Ukraine in NATO”. He dubbed it the “Prophet of the Modern Century,”
If it is viewed from Russia’s point of view, the United States has already attempted to integrate all of Ukraine’s territory and has made no exception. The American-led strategic system will be removing Russia’s historic “safety belt”. Sooner or later the West and Russia will get engaged in a formal or informal dialogue. This will perhaps be an important way of exploration as this will lead to a new nuclear circle that could cause destruction.
