Northeast Flash Floods Kill 5+ In July 2023, Transatlantic Today

US (Washington Insider Magazine) –  July isn’t typically a month where you’d expect to see intense rainstorms and flash flooding — but this year’s summer season is proving to shake up everything we thought we knew about traditional weather patterns.

Here’s what you need to know about Northeast flash floods in July of 2023.

Where Are Northeast Flash Floods Affecting In 2023?

From Vermont to Pennsylvania, several states are feeling “underwater” due to the intense amount of rainfall and weather shifts that are moving through the region.

Rainstorms and weather events have also been reported as far South as Florida, prompting many to worry about the impact that the weather shifts might have on hurricane season 2023.

Time will tell — and we will continue to give updates on the weather events throughout the second half of 2023.

Are More Northeast Flash Floods On The Way?

The National Weather Service has been quoted warning some that more unorthodox weather events might be on the way. There are currently over 40 million people throughout the Northeast facing risks of severe rain and storms as of July 16th, with more to be expected throughout NYC, Hartford, Philadelphia and other capitol cities.

The risk that this poses is severe, as the soil begins to heavily saturate due to the excessive moisture. This can lead to even more flooding as the month continues, leading to traumatic results in the fall for certain residential areas.

What Other Weather Events Are Happening As A Result Of Northeast Flash Floods?

The flooding that millions are seeing across the East Coast is not a local-only problem. The range of severe weather events that have affected the United States has spread country-wide, including:

  • Extreme heat waves throughout Southern California and other Southern states (such as Texas, Louisiana, and Alabama)
  • Extreme heat causing bacterial overgrowth and record-high sea temperatures off of the coast of Florida
  • A wave of cool weather for several Northern states, including Wisconsin, Montana and Minnesota

Why Are These Shifts In Weather Happening?

Specialists continue to investigate the shifts. However, many believe that the weather events are occurring due to the effects of climate change or the El Niño designation over 2023.
