US (Washington Insider Magazine) – A 37-year-old deaf man was shot to death in the same area of Brooklyn (NYC) where his brother had been murdered a decade ago. The gunman escaped in a car and has not been arrested.
Kareem Irving, a 37-year-old deaf man, was shot dead on Monday in the same area of Brooklyn (NYC) where his brother had been murdered a decade ago.
Irving was fatally shot around 6 p.m. Monday just steps from his family’s home and around the corner from where his brother was killed about 10 years ago, the NYPD said.
Irving was shot in the chest and shoulder on the block from his home on E. 91st St. near Winthrop St. in the East Flatbush neighborhood. Paramedics rushed him to Kings County Hospital but were unable to save him.
A ShotSpotter alert indicated that two rounds had been fired, police said. The suspected gunman, a man in a hoodie and black mask, got away in a gray Nissan.
Greta Dobson, Irving’s aunt, told the Daily News that he was born basically deaf but he could read lips. He “he was born with a hearing impairment, and he still pushed himself and went to school and everything”.
The motive for the attack is unclear. The relative regretted that they were three brothers, but now there is only one left.
