Nyheem Wright lost his life after being stabbed to death by a gang in Coney Island on Friday when he was chased by the suspects until he was caught up in a parking lot and later attacked.
A young man from Brooklyn was assaulted by a group of gang members later this week, he lost his life from his injuries on Saturday, police said.
The victim, who was identified as 17-year-old Nyheem Wright, died at Maimonides Medical Center Saturday afternoon, succumbing to a collapsed lung and a punctured vein, authorities revealed.
“I spoke to the young man’s director tonight who described him as a cheerful leader. He was about to graduate and was a hard worker who took an active role in leading other youth at his school,” Schools Chancellor David Banks explained on Twitter Saturday night.

Officials said six teenagers were chasing Wright in Coney Island after leaving school.
He was hit by the criminals in the Rite Aid parking lot at Mermaid Avenue and W. 30th Street, where he was left lying with a fatal stab wound to the torso, police said.
The teen was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition with a collapsed lung and a punctured vein, according to Councilman Ari Kagan. Wright died 24 hours after the crime.
Authorities believe the offenders belonged to a gang. No arrests have been made in this regard.
Wright’s slaying capped a violent week for New York teens that also included the death of a 15-year-old boy who was fatally shot at a Bronx recreation center on Thursday.
Earlier this week, a group of seven teenagers stabbed a 17-year-old in the back twice in Queens and a 16-year-old was shot by a New York officer during a shooting in the Bronx.
Also, a 13-year-old boy opened fire Wednesday at a Queens high school, injuring two students while they were waiting for a bus, the New York Post reported.
