Washington DC (Transatlantic Today) — The Russian military is trying to increase the number of arsenal tanks, weapons, and armored vehicles. In 2020, they made a conscious effort to grow the fleet of 27,000 vehicles. A large number in this list includes around 1,200 tanks. The USA has superior technology along with a bigger air force. If US tanks VS Russian tanks are compared, Russia turns out to be a clear winner. They have twice as many tanks as compared to the USA.
Russia Has A Higher Number Of Tanks
According to the latest report from the Russian News Agency, the country has received a large number of tanks. Deputy Defense Minister Alexei Krivoruchko confirms bringing in 160 new tanks in the first quarter of 2020. These tanks include repaired and upgraded weapons. Some of them including T-72Bs and T-80s are refurbished for use.
It is not surprising that the total number of fleets in Russia is around 12,000. This number is twice that in the USA as they have only 6,000 tanks. All these things raise a question about the possibility of a long-ground war. The Russian army boasts of T-72B which is regarded as the third-generation tank. It is a variant of the T-72 that was first introduced in the 1980s.
These tanks are not easy to compare with the US as the features are highly upgraded. Even though the US is putting years of innovation into the Abrams, Russia is way ahead. As the arrival of new Russian tanks begin it raises many important and thrilling questions.

US Has More Armored Vehicles
The Global Firepower breakdown has revealed that the US has a higher number of armored vehicles. Currently, the US operates around 39,000 armored vehicles while Russia has 27,000 only. With this the 6,000 plus tanks that Russia has, they are still at a very big advantage.
However, most modern wars now depend on airpower. The United States has double amount of combat aircraft as compared to Russia. Moreover, they have five times more helicopters. Air supremacy cannot be overlooked at this point. It will be a deciding factor about who prevails victory on the ground. Most of Russia’s tanks are prone to destruction, and the US can gain superiority from the air itself.
Until the US sends some major enforcements, the Russian land force can quickly run over the Baltics. There are plenty of other facts that they need to consider before making the final move. The current technology and sophistication in Russia’s tanks are not easy to beat. They are upgrading many T-72s that can beat Abrams quickly.
The US isn’t far behind as they are working on Abrams efficiently. Some variants of Abrams feature new technology sensors and thermal targeting sights. It can easily detect the heat signature coming from the enemy’s vehicles. A new armor material is used to upgrade the ammunition along with other features. All these upgrades give rise to a question as to whether Abrams can finally beat the Russian T-14 Armata.
Russia vs US Military Strength
Russia has around 9,000 military personnel. Around 200,000 are on duty at the Ukrainian border since the time war began. The current invasion of Ukraine has strengthened the military power of Russia even more. If we talk about the Russian navy has around 51 submarines. Nearly 6,000 artillery pieces are present in the army. Almost 20,000 armored fighting vehicles and 13,300 tanks are available in the Russian military.
There are over 1,300 aircraft and 500 helicopters which reflects the strength of the Russian air force. Russia has more than 500 missile launches. They are highly capable of long-range warfare in many ways. These missiles can easily travel around the speed of Mach 5. The Kh-47M2 Kinzhal air-launched ballistic missile can reach more than 7600 mph, or Mach 10.
Russia is ranked second when it comes to military strength. While the US is currently ranking at the number one spot. If we talk about the population of the Army, Russia has 142,320,790 soldiers. However, the US has around 334,998,398 soldiers. The US army is ranked at number 3 while the Russian army stands at rank 9 in 2022 itself. The invasion of Ukraine by Russia has brought out the real strength of the army in many ways.
