(Washington Insider Magazine) – A 46-year-old man, founder of an investment firm, jumped into the void last night from a rooftop bar in Times Square (NYC). It was the 2nd similar case there in less than four months.

A 46-year-old man, founder of an investment company, jumped into the void last night from a rooftop bar in Times Square (NYC), an area considered the world’s tourist mecca.

According to Police Sources

According to police sources, the victim collapsed from “Bar 54” at the “Hyatt Centric Times Square New York” hotel in front of at least two witnesses around 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, marking the second suicide from there in less than four months. The man landed on the street below and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two people at the bar told the NYPD that the man, later identified as Dale L. Cheney, had jumped from the building. The case is being investigated as a suspected suicide, an NYPD spokesman said.

Sources told the New York Post that police were called to his home twice in 2008 over domestic disputes with his wife. One of the arguments was about finances. Court records show the couple had filed for divorce on Tuesday of this week. The man was a founder and partner in a Connecticut-based investment firm and had three children.

“We are truly heartbroken by the situation that occurred outside our rooftop bar tonight, and we keep the victim’s family and friends in our hearts and thoughts,” said Tom Blundell, general manager of Hyatt Centric Times Square. it’s a statement.

“We are working closely with local authorities. The safety and well-being of all our colleagues, hotel guests and “Bar 54” remains a priority and at this time, as a result of this tragic incident, we will keep the door to the outside bar area locked at all times. Blundell said through a spokesperson.

This is the second time in less than four months that a person has fatally jumped from the same hotel bar. In October, aspiring model Elizabeth Gaglewski, a Queens resident, fell from there and crashed into a 27th-story balcony. Staff tried to intervene and prevent the 26-year-old from falling while standing on the ledge, the authorities said.
