(Washington Insider Magazine) -Experts are saying that this winter will be colder than most, but what exactly does that mean? With the onset of the coronavirus pandemic and people concerned about their health in general, many people do not want to be in a position where a polar vortex happens again. Or, on the other hand, many Texans might be wondering if they need to prepare for another freeze. There are several reasons why this winter will be colder than most, but it’s not going to be exactly as you imagine it to be.
Experts Say This Will Be An Abnormal Winter
If you think about what your childhood winters were like, this will be pretty different from that. According to the Farmer’s Almanac, people assume that this will be the coldest winter in years. But, more so than that, many regions around the country will be facing different challenges than they might have expected to feel. For instance, Texas and other parts of the South might have colder and wetter winters.
In the middle of the country, it’s expected to be colder and snowier, and there’s even likely to be more challenging and dryer temperatures in most of the United States. So even if there’s not going to be snow, it’s supposed to be colder, and some experts say it’s about 10% harder than usual.
Is It All Abnormal?
Fortunately, it’s not all abnormal. Some areas of the country and Canada are going to experience average temperatures. For instance, it’s likely to be mild in Alaska, which is pretty standard for wintertime. Additionally, Hawaii is supposed to experience a warm and dry winter, expected because of its tropical climate. Even regions of Newfoundland are going to be average temperatures. Of course, it all depends on where you live, but for the most part, you can expect the temperatures to be by 10 percent colder than usual and probably a little bit different than what you expect.
How Do I Prepare?
If you live in a region where it is traditionally milder in the winter, prepare now for the colder temperatures. Find suitable materials and get ready for emergencies. The most important part of this is being vigilant and making sure you’re prepared. Even if the temperatures are less and you might have a different winter than you expected, you’ll still be prepared and ready to go, which is the most important thing.
