Welsh Water Emergency: Dec 27 Supply Shutdown Update

Welsh water supply continues into 2022

(Washington Insider Magazine) -Burst pipes in parts of Wales have left thousands without a working water supply.

Over 4,500 homes have been affected in Ceredigion county, North Wales. The water supply issue has also hit Aberaeron.

According to local energy companies, the Welsh water emergency has been caused in large part due to heavy rain in the region, resulting in burst pipes.

The Welsh pipe burst problem has severely impacted local welsh communities, forcing schools across the country to close.

The Welsh pipe burst problem has even caused some severe damage to the Royal Welsh Museum in Brecon, Powys.

A spokesman from the museum has praised local volunteers for helping to restore the museum and recover any damaged artifacts.

The museum has now closed for the winter break to help with the restoration period. It’s unclear when the museum will reopen but officials are hoping for early 2023.

To combat the Welsh water emergency, distribution centers have been set up to provide local communities with fresh water, but locals are concerned that the emergency water supply will not be enough.

Due to the Welsh water emergency, the local government has come under fire with strong criticism from locals who believe that officials did not do enough to help locals that are still without a water supply on Sunday.

Locals have been promised fresh water since Saturday, with the deadline now being pushed back to Tuesday, 20th December.

The leader of the Ceredigion council. Brian Davies has praised staff from the council who have donated over 35,000 water bottles to homes without water and cites Welsh Water for lack of infrastructure, not the council.

Central and Southern Wales are also affected, with many community centers closed as a result, including a leisure center in Aberaeron where all but one facility is open.

The Chief Executive of Dwr Cymru Welsh Water has said that the company aims to restore water by Tuesday, and freezing temperatures across the country have also caused many water pipes to burst.

The company has issued a formal apology to vulnerable people who have been without water and hopes to resolve the welsh pipe burst problem as soon as possible.
