Violent Weekend In New York Leaves 7 Injured, Transatlantic Today

(Washington Insider Magazine)  Most of the victims that he left over the weekend were stabbed and the others were shot that left injuries that did not put their lives at risk, the events took place in Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan, among others.

Death of a Man on a Train

A man was stabbed to death on a train in Lower Manhattan by a stranger who allegedly made a racist comment, making him one of seven victims of violent crimes in New York over the weekend, police said.

The 24-year-old took a southbound N subway with three friends on Chambers Street around 10 p.m. Saturday, authorities said.

While on the train, the stranger from another group said “Oh, white people,” a New York Police Department spokesperson said. Subjects in the other group were dark-skinned and Hispanic.

A fight suddenly broke out when one of the victim’s friends asked the subject what he meant by the comment, officials said.

One of the individuals showed a knife and stabbed the young man in the hip on the right side. The other two strangers punched him in the face.

The unidentified victim was taken to Methodist Hospital in stable condition.

When the train arrived at the Pacific Street station, the trio of ages 17, 18 and 24 were arrested with charges pending, police said.

Separately, a 58-year-old man was stabbed in the chest with a large kitchen knife following a verbal altercation at 38-33 29th Street in Astoria, Queens, at approximately 8:00 p.m. He was transferred to New York-Presbyterian in stable condition. There were no arrests in that regard, officials said.

Shortly before midnight in Manhattan, a 33-year-old man was found with a penetrating puncture wound to the back at West 125th Street and Morningside Avenue in Harlem. He was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital in stable condition.

The agents are in search of a video and a weapon. Four subjects were being wanted for the crime, according to the New York Post.

In addition, a 28-year-old man was wounded in the right leg during a shootout in Harlem when the shooting began in Frederick Douglass at 6:00 p.m. for unknown reasons. The victim was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital in stable condition, authorities said.

The wave of violence continued Sunday when another man was stabbed in the abdomen before 1 p.m. at an R train station at Fourth Avenue and 53rd Street in Brooklyn, police officials said. The subject was transported to Lutheran Hospital. His condition is unknown.

Minutes before 2:00 p.m., a man was struck by a bullet in the abdomen inside an apartment at 375 Pulaski St. and was rushed to Kings County Hospital, where he is in stable condition.

Finally, at 2:15 p.m. in Manhattan, a 26-year-old man was shot in the shoulder by him. He was rushed to a nearby medical center and is in stable condition, according to the police department.
