USA (Washington Insider Magazine) – Last Wednesday, travelers arriving at Union Station in Washington, D.C., were met with chaos as a violent protest erupted. Demonstrators replaced American flags with Palestinian flags and set the U.S. flags ablaze. Chanting slogans like “from the river to the sea” and “Allahu Akbar,” they also graffitied “Hamas is coming” on federal property.

The violent demonstration coincided with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit, where he shared stories of hostages and soldiers affected by recent conflicts with Hamas. Meanwhile, supporters of Hamas clashed with U.S. Capitol Police, displaying Palestinian and Hamas flags and marching to Union Station and Columbus Circle.

Protesters assaulted U.S. Park Police officers, threw suspected human feces, destroyed property, burned an effigy of Netanyahu, and defiled the American flag. Despite preparations by the U.S. Capitol Police, the Department of the Interior and the National Park Service did not provide additional support for the Park Police, who faced the violence alone.

Security and Response Failures

Thehill said that despite the possibility of violence, the National Park Service had granted permission for the protest without ensuring sufficient security measures were in place. The ANSWER Coalition, which is known to have connections to far-left and anti-American movements, planned the demonstration.

Republican lawmakers later reinstated the American flag and surveyed the damage, emphasizing the importance of protecting American liberties. The event underscored the need for vigilance in defending freedom while condemning violence and pro-terrorist rhetoric.

Free Speech and Law

While supporting the right to peaceful protest, authorities emphasized that violence and desecration of public lands are unacceptable and will be met with accountability measures to uphold the rule of law and national security.
