U.S.(Washington Insider Magazine) – Former President Donald Trump has issued a strong warning to BRICS nations, threatening 100% tariffs if they proceed with plans to establish an alternative currency to the US dollar.

“The idea that BRICS countries are moving away from the dollar while we stand by and watch is OVER,” Trump posted on Truth Social. He demanded a commitment from BRICS members to avoid creating a new currency or backing an alternative to the US dollar.

BRICS—comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa—expanded this year to include Iran, the UAE, Ethiopia, and Egypt. The bloc has explored alternatives to the dollar for trade, potentially undermining US economic influence.

Russian President Vladimir Putin stated in October that BRICS was not actively pursuing a common currency but was studying ways to increase trade using national currencies.

Trump’s latest economic stance follows his recent pledge to impose heavy tariffs on imports from Mexico, Canada, and China, citing concerns over illegal immigration and crime.

His threats against BRICS reflect growing US concerns over de-dollarization, particularly as China and Russia seek to challenge American financial dominance.
