Russian-Ukrainian War Update on Stalemate 2022

Russian-Ukrainian War Update on Stalemate 2022, Transatlantic Today

EUROPE (Washington Insider Magazine) – The Russian-Ukrainian war has given no signs of stopping as Russia continues to launch successful missile attacks on targets across Ukraine. Russian deputy head of security Dmitry Medvedev says there will only be peace if it is on Moscow’s terms.

This conversation follows Russia’s hostile invasion of the Ukrainian city of Lysychansk on July 3, 2022.  Although ground advances have not been lucrative since the attack on Lysychansk, Dmitry Medvedev says Russia is ready to do whatever it takes to reach its goals.

Peace talks between Russia and Ukraine amid the break in the Russian-Ukrainian war last March were thought to be constructive at first. Russian military government agreed to reduce their military activity and pursue a peaceful evacuation of Ukrainian civilians in exchange for more Ukraine territory. However, the Russian Government has not held to their agreement and continues their move forward with the goal to dominate Ukraine and handicapping all of the available Ukrainian resources.

Ukraine President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy is firm to delay negotiation for peace with Russian President Vladimir Putin until certain demands are met.  President Zelenskyy has demanded the Russian Army pull its military forces back to their original location before President Putin began the attack against Ukraine. However, Russian military troops continue to advance forward through aggressive land and air action.

Ukraine will pursue forcing the Russian Army to comply with their demand by pushing back their battle line with help from the United States and NATO support.  This support to Ukraine will come in the form of weaponry, a high quantity of ammunition, fuel for tanks and aircraft, body armor, and front-line first aid kits for soldiers. The sum of a committed $54 billion from the United States will also financially assist Ukraine in the fight against Russia.

Ukraine holds hope to end the war before winter. If US armed support is received and military necessity is fully staffed with adequate weapons, Ukraine’s chief of staff Andriy Yermak, says it is possible to end the war without entering the harsh winter months.  Continuing the war into the winter will prove to be defensively difficult for Ukraine, however, Russia is working to avoid any time limits.
