US(Washington Insider Magazine)-Karine Jean-Pierre, the White House Press Secretary, mentioned earlier this week that the United States openly extends an invitation to all those seeking asylum, specifically Russian refugees, to evade the Russian military draft during President Vladimir Putin’s war on Ukraine.
She strongly emphasizes during a White House briefing that in spite of everything, everyone is able to seek refuge in the United States and deserves to have their case heard during this “unpopular” war – alluding to the fact that there are many Russians who refuse to fight in this war against Ukraine.
The press secretary goes on to say America has seen the countless protests and petitions rejecting the attacks on the people of Ukraine, and there are not many who are willing to die for this war.
A man in Ryazan, Russia set himself on fire to show his opposition to the war.
The Kremlin has requested to draft 300,000 men to join in the war against Ukraine, which has increased the high volume of activity at the Russian border as many seek to flee the country. Many airlines are no longer accepting direct flights from Russia because they have been sold out for days.
Upon the announcement of the mobilization, the Kazakhstan government mentioned an inpouring of Russian refugees totaling 98,000 seeking asylum since the two share a border and Russians are not required to show a visa or passport to enter the country.
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakh has promised his country would care for those who have been drafted and ensure they will remain protected. This follows his commitment to allow Russians who have been drafted to stay and seek refuge during this war despite the inability to host this large influx of people.
General Patrick Ryder says the Russian military has been facing many challenges since the beginning of the war. He believes their attempts to pressure the Russian citizens into joining a war, which many have opposed from the start, will fail and ultimately lead to a foreseeable end.
