Rudy Giuliani Subpoenaed to Testify About January 6th Events

Rudy Giuliani Subpoenaed to Testify About January 6th Events, Transatlantic Today

US (Washington Insider Magazine) – The Former New York City Mayor and close ally to former President Donald Trump, Rudy Giuliani, is was subpoenaed last month and expected to testify before the Congressional Committee investing the January 6 Capitol insurrection that claimed the lives of 5 people.

The January 6 House Committee has said they fully expect Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani, the ally to former President Donald Trump, to cooperate after being subpoenaed in January.

Giuliani was issued a subpoena that claimed the former mayor had promoted widespread rumors of election fraud for Trump and was attempting to persuade state legislators to change the results.

The subpoena also disclosed that he advised President Trump to direct the seizure of voting machines throughout the United States after being told that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) was not permitted to do this.

He’s been reported saying the January 6 committee is illegal and said it doesn’t have the power to issue subpoenas after the House committee granted his request to reschedule his deposition.

Adama Kinzinger (R- Illinois) stated in an interview with CBS that they do expect cooperation on behalf of Mr. Giuliani as that is his legal requirement. It would be the same situation as if a regular U.S. citizen was subpoenaed to court.

But Giuliani isn’t the only one being subpoenaed to talk about the events surrounding the January 6 insurrection at the capital last year. Three other allies to Trump, Jenna Ellis, Sidney Powell, and Boris Epshteyn, are also expected to speak in front of the House committee.

These four people, the committee said at the time, were spreading and purporting publicly unsupported claims regarding the 2020 election results, and continued to attempt to overturn or delay the election certification process while more evidence was sourced.

It has been heard that Guiliani and others were actively working with President Trump regarding strategies for delaying the results of the 2020 election.

Both Kinzinger and Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming have been censured by the Republican National Committee because of their positions on the House Panel, but many Republicans have come out against the RNC’s censure.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, who said last week that the situation was a violent insurrection in order to undermine the transfer of power, has added that it was not the job of the Republican party to single out minority members with different or extremist views.

He went on to state that the power was through a legitimately certified election, and that the transfer was to be between one administration to the next. This is in direct contention with claims made by prior President Trump that President Biden was not the legitimate holder of the Administration.

Kinzinger, who plans on retiring from Congress, stated his opinion about Republicans speaking the truth about what actually occurred on Jan. 6, 2021, at the United States Capitol.

He was quoted stating that Republicans were clear and very adamant about their beliefs on record. He urged fellow seat holders to push Republicans on the issue and avoid letting complacency took place. January 6th and its events were not simply an example of discourse gone awry, but a disruption of a power transition.
