Putin’s Goddaughter Flees Russia

Putin’s Goddaughter Flees Russia, Transatlantic Today

(Washington Insider Magazine)-Ksenia Sobchak: Putin’s goddaughter, Russian journalist, TV personality, and the daughter of Vladimir Putin’s one-time mentor and boss, according to intelligence services, has fled to Lithuania.

What does this mean for the Russian intelligence committee? Potentially a major breach of national trust, as people aren’t sure of the main reason behind the escape.

Her breakout happened after the Moscow police raided one of her homes. Miss Sobchak became famous as a reality show presenter before deciding to make a career in journalism; her prior origins and skills are yet unknown.

Back in 2018, she even ran for the Russian presidency, which was considered a publicity stunt to help the Kremlin make it seem like competitive elections are being held by many of her critics. The daughter of the former mayor of St Petersburg, Anatoly Sobchak, and Putin’s rumored goddaughter, has made quite a stir for Russian intelligence forces, who, at the time of this publication, have had no luck finding her.

On Tuesday night, Russian media stated that Sobchak fled Russia and crossed into Belarus-Lithuania after escaping. She has allegedly bought plane tickets across the nations to hideaway near Dubai. Online footage shows Sobchak wearing a cap and covering her face while she crosses the border on foot but offers no insight into her final destination.

Darius Jauniskis told a local radio station on Thursday that Ksenia Sobchak had made it out of Russia, as confirmed by several local bystanders. He stated that she used her foreign documentation and proof of identity to pass through the border even though Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia currently have bans on Russian citizens.

Using her valid national passport, she could easily cross it and stay up to 90 days. The Russian security services had the order to arrest her as a suspect in the same case as Kirill Sukhanov, her media director.

On Wednesday, Sukhanov was thrown in jail for attempting to extort 11 million roubles from the head of the Russian state defense corporation Rostec and a former KGB general, Surgery Chemezov.

There have been no formal comments from the prosecutor’s office or Sobchak. Sobchak has been using Telegram to speak out about what has been occurring. She has gone on to say that the situation is directly linked to the documentary about the use of torture in Russian prisons and that this whole thing is just the Kremlin cracking down on dissent.
