As of this morning and for six consecutive weekends, line 7 of the New York Subway will be closed in the section that travels between Queens and Midtown West Manhattan (Hudson Yards).
Closing will be from 12:15 a.m. on Saturday until 11:00 p.m. Sunday. During that period the train will only continue to run in Queens.
Two Elevators Will be Built in Queensboro Plaza
The closure is due to the fact that two elevators will be built in Queensboro Plaza, one at the south entrance of the station and another between the mezzanine and the platforms. Then there will be more improvements to that stop when the elevators are installed.
The MTA explained that accessibility is a priority, although it recognizes that this closure will be a great inconvenience for the tens of thousands of people who depend on this line every day, ABC News highlighted.
As an alternative, a free bus will operate in two sections: in Queens between Queensboro Plaza and Vernon Blvd-Jackson Av; and in Manhattan between Times Sq-42 St and 34 St-Hudson Yards.

This weekend another major transportation artery in New York will also begin a long closure: the Holland Tunnel in the Manhattan-NJ direction, after years of work on the reverse route.
