(Washington Insider Magazine) -No one matched all six numbers in the final 2022 Mega Millions drawing on Friday night with an expected jackpot of $685 million.
The first Mega Millions drawing of the new year will be a big one as no one won Friday night’s estimated $685 million jackpot.
The jackpot increased to $785 million before the next drawing on Tuesday night.
No tickets purchased for the lottery matched all six numbers drawn Friday night, Mega Millions said in a statement early Saturday.
Selection of Different Numbers
The numbers selected on Friday were: 1, 3, 6, 44, 51 and Gold Mega Ball 7.
The jackpot has grown so large thanks to the rock-bottom odds of one in 302.6 million that it has resulted in 22 consecutive draws without a big winner.
The estimated $785 million prize goes to one winner who chooses to be paid via an annuity, with annual checks for 29 years. Almost all of the winners opt for cash, which for the next drawing would be approximately $395 million.
The jackpot is the largest since a $2.04 billion Powerball prize was won on November 8 in California. No winner has been announced for that record payout.
“Only three previous occasions has the Mega Millions jackpot exceeded $700 million, and all three times those jackpots continued to exceed $1 billion,” Mega Millions said.
Mega Millions is played in 45 states, as well as Washington, D.C. and the US Virgin Islands.
