MILWAUKEE (Washington Insider Magazine)– Officers in Milwaukee shot and killed a guy after he led them on a pursuit into a crowded bar district, got out of his car, and started shooting at them, according to the authorities.
A 22-year-old Hudson woman who was a bystander was shot during the incident on Friday night, according to the police. Police said they were unsure at the time whether she had been hit by the gunman or by police, but she was brought to a local hospital after sustaining non-life-threatening wounds. No one was harmed by bullets fired at police.
Police attempted to stop the 47-year-old Milwaukee man after spotting him driving in a vehicle at approximately 11 p.m. on Friday because he was sought in connection with a homicide. The man allegedly got out of his vehicle and began shooting at the police as the chase ended downtown, according to the police. Authorities claim that when additional officers opened fire, he was killed.
In a social media video, at least 5 police vehicles are seen pursuing a pickup truck before gunfire is heard. In a different video, many people can be seen gathered on the sidewalk as police vehicles pass by with lights and sirens on, before dispersing when gunshots are heard.
The man and the wounded bystander, who the police said was unrelated to the incident, are still unknown to the public. Police claimed to have found the man’s firearm, although they did not specify what sort of weapon it was.
According to ABC NEWS, the eight participating officers have been put on administrative duty, as is customary in cases of police shootings. The officers’ ages range from 22 to 47, and they have a variety of experience with the Milwaukee Police Department, from over 3 years to over 12 years.
The Oak Creek Police Department, which is in charge of the inquiry, stated on Saturday that they were unable to provide any further information due to the continuing investigation. Questions were directed by the Milwaukee Police Department to Oak Creek police and the medical examiner.
