(Washington Insider Magazine) -A man is facing charges for the King Charles egging, after eggs were allegedly thrown at the King during a visit to York along with the Queen Consort.
Patrick Thelwell, the 23 year old suspect for the King Charles egging, is currently set to present in front of the Court (York Magistrate’s) on the 20th of January due to his charges in violation of public order for the King Charles egging.
During the King Charles egging incident, a figure in the crowd threw four eggs as the royal couple arrived for the unveiling of a statue of the late Queen of York Minster.
The four eggs missed their intended target. However, it did develop into a compelling internet joke among the UK/US Twitter crowd.
King Charles Egging Incident: Summary of Yorkshire Visit From The King
Apparently, the King Charles egging incident occurred on the second day of an official visit to Yorkshire, during which the king and his wife Camilla later left for Doncaster.
King Charles was shaking hands with members of the public as the eggs were thrown in his direction, causing him to look curiously at the cracked eggs all over the ground.
He was then suddenly rushed by security away, along with his wife, shortly after.
Witnesses then saw police restraining a man on the ground behind temporary fences that were put in place for the royal visit.
During the arrest, the crowd that came to see King Charles began to chant “God save the king” and “shame on you,” in support of the king because of the King Charles egging.
King Charles Egging Incident: Fallout
The head of the Crown Prosecution Service’s (CPS) Special Crime and Counter Terrorism Division, Nick Price, was quoted during the announcement of the charges in Mr Thelwell’s case, stating that he had given authorisation to North Yorkshire police to charge Patrick Thelwell, the alleged heckler, with threatening behaviour that remains in violation of the 1986 Public Order Act (Section 4).
The charges followed an investigation by the police into the King Charles eggging in which eggs were thrown at His Majesty the King on November 9, 2022, in York.
The CPS also said that Mr. Thelwell is entitled to a fair trial.
This follows another King Charles egg incident, where the king allegedly had eggs thrown at him in Luton.
