US (Washington Insider Magazine) – It’s no secret that January 6th, 2021 will go down in American history as one of the greatest events in democracy…for better or for worse. While many citizens across the country had (and still maintain) mixed feelings on the date of the alleged insurrection, the FBI has continued its probe to learn more about the facts of that day.
Throughout the process, the special House committee has been working in conjunction with the FBI to continue to bring those who participated in the insurrection to justice and to ensure that the arm of governmental democracy is preserved throughout the United States.
Just 48 hours before the Supreme Court initiated the release of 700 pages of insurrection documentation showing the events that occurred before, during, and after the event took place, former President Donald J. Trump worked to submit a request to hold any and all documentation from the event. The request was denied by the Supreme Court and relevant documentation was promptly released 48 hours later.
The insurrection, at its core, was perhaps the most monumental challenge of United States democracy and governmental integrity to date. This historical event divided the nation and has cast an irreparable tone and otherwise shadow of uncertainty in the ability of the government to preserve integrity and justice at every echelon of bureaucracy.
Talks of insurrection and overthrowing the election results began when followers of Donald Trump began to question the integrity of the election results given the many indications of fraud that were found throughout the state voting process.
Even now, many question how currently sitting President Biden and VP Kamala Harris could have won the election with the most votes in history, yet only have a few thousand at any given event or conference.
It is understandable that this put doubt in the hearts and minds of Americans across the country, which led up to the tragic event that led to the death of one and injuries for several. It is the hope of the House Committee and FBI that these documents are able to bring clarity to an otherwise obscure and confusing situation, and act as a beacon of integrity for future votes and elections to come.
It is important to note that the Comittee doesn’t seek to bring those who participated in the uprising and subsequent demonstrations to justice at a more severe level. They instead seek to understand the current state of events that led up to the event and want to ensure that there were no vulnerabilities or violations of the democratic voting process.
While the sitting president could have invoked his executive privilege rights and kept the documents sealed even in the face of a subpoena, he did not. President Trump did argue and sue unsuccessfully to keep the documentation from being released under the terms of his executive privilege that he has as a past president of the United States of America.
