NOBLESVILLE, Indiana (Washington Insider Magazine)- A woman from Indiana was given a sentence of over 100 years in prison for poisoning the oatmeal of the father of her child and strangling him using his favorite tie.

42-year-old Heidi Marie Littlefield was sentenced last Friday to sixty years in prison for murder and an additional 55 years for conspiring to commit murder numerous times, according to Hamilton County Superior Court documents.

On Thursday, a lawyer for Littlefield could not be reached for comment.

The affidavit said Francis “Fran” Kelley was found dead in January 2021, and an autopsy revealed that he was strangled. The document said that he had fentanyl in his system.

A warrant was issued to check Kelley’s iPad and phone, and it was discovered through text messages between the two that Littlefield, the mother of one of Kelley’s children, had visited him at his home days before he was discovered dead.

The court document stated that the two were in a battle for custody of their 2-year-old kid.

Officials informed the conspiracy to murder Kelley involved Littlefield, her adult daughter, and the woman’s boyfriend. The document claims that the women added fentanyl to his food.

When they arrived at Kelley’s house and saw him unconscious. Littlefield allegedly strangled him with Fran’s favorite tie. The daughter’s boyfriend told the detectives that she attempted to smash him in the head, the affidavit said.

The Indianapolis Star reported in August that Littlefield’s daughter gave some of the most incriminating testimony that led to her conviction for murder and murder conspiracy.

The woman said that she along with her mother made three attempts to poison Kelley. When they broke into his house the third time, they discovered him lying face down on the floor and struggling for air. Littlefield urged her daughter to snap Kelley’s neck, but the daughter said she couldn’t because Kelley was too heavy.

Littlefield’s daughter received a 26-year jail term in March after entering a guilty plea to conspiracy to commit murder. The newspaper reported a murder charge was dismissed in return for her testimony.

In May, her boyfriend pled guilty to conspiracy to commit murder. He received a ten-year sentence.
