FLORIDA (Washington Insider Magazine) – According to investigators, a Florida woman is guilty of using a portion of her Covid-19 assistance loan to recruit a hitman to execute another woman.
The accused, Jasmine Martinez, is being held in custody with two other persons, Romiel Robinson and Javon Carter, according to authorities. They’re all being jailed on suspicion of murdering Le’Shonte Jones on May 3 and injuring Jones’ three-year-old daughter in the process.
Martinez is suspected of hatching a scheme to assassinate Jones, and Robinson is suspected of persuading Carter to carry it out, according to a warrant of arrest obtained by NBC Miami. Martinez is accused of withdrawing $10,000 from a federal Paycheck Protection Program loan in the days leading up to the shooting. According to the warrant, she had used the money to compensate Carter for the offense.
Martinez was taken into custody in 2018 for getting into a violent confrontation with Jones, according to investigators. According to the warrant, Jones confessed against Martinez in 2020.
Jones said she was intimidated and robbed at gunpoint by 2 men after that court proceeding, according to the warrant. Martinez’s former boyfriend, Kelly Nelson, was eventually recognized as one of the attackers, according to the warrant.
Nelson is now incarcerated on robbery charges.
According to the warrant, officers pursuing Jones’ murder discovered jail logs of Martinez and Nelson’s phone conversations. According to the warrant, Martinez allegedly informed Nelson over the phone on Feb. 11, 2021, that she was “ready to go kill” Jones.
According to investigators, Martinez’s current boyfriend, Robinson, called Carter the next day.
According to the petition, Jones claimed being pressured in March, was given cash not to speak against Nelson, and was informed that Martinez needed Nelson back to take care of their children. According to the warrant, Jones testified in court both against Nelson in April as well as also accused Martinez of witness tampering.
Robinson allegedly approached Carter soon after her testimony to seek a price on the death, according to investigators.
Carter allegedly traveled to Jones’ apartment building on April 30 and May 1 to do surveillance, according to the investigation. On May 3, as she returned home with her kid, he was suspected of shooting her numerous times.
Security footage shows Jones, 24, and her daughter going toward her home when she was shot, according to Miami-Dade police. According to the police report, the video also shows Carter exiting a gray Nissan and shooting a revolver at Jones and her kid.
According to internet documents, all three defendants were charged with the 1st-degree murder of Jones and the attempted killing of her kid. Robinson and Martinez were both charged with murder conspiracy.
