As part of its ongoing commitment to support Gaza, the European Union has announced an additional €25 million in humanitarian aid, bringing its total contribution for 2024 to over €100 million. This funding is aimed at alleviating the ongoing crisis in Gaza, particularly by addressing urgent needs such as water and sanitation, health, food, and other essential supplies.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen made the announcement today, emphasizing the EU’s dedication to providing life-saving assistance. “By increasing our aid by another €25 million, the European Union demonstrates its unwavering support for the civilians of Gaza. Our total humanitarian assistance this year will reach €100 million,” von der Leyen stated. She also highlighted the EU’s collaboration with Israel, Egypt, and the United Nations to ensure that humanitarian convoys reach Gaza through coordinated corridors and pauses to facilitate aid delivery.
This latest contribution is part of the EU’s broader effort to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and ensure that civilians receive the necessary resources to survive the ongoing conflict. With continued support from the international community, efforts to alleviate suffering in Gaza remain a top priority for the European Union.
