Eric Trump and Kimberly Guilfoyle’s phone records subpoenaed

WASHINGTON (Transatlantic Today) – Sources told CNN that the House panel probing the January 6 assault on the US Capitol has subpoenaed and collected phone records associated with Eric Trump, one of former President Donald Trump’s children, and Kimberly Guilfoyle, fiancée to Donald Trump Jr.

It seems to be the first instance the house panel has sent a subpoena to a person of the Trump family, signaling a significant step forward in the probe into Trump’s complicity in the January 6 coup. The move to demand Trump family interaction information exemplifies the committee’s aggressive approach as it rushes to wrap up its probe while fighting Trump in the courtroom over access to records from his administration.

Eric Trump and Kimberly Guilfoyle both played a key role in Trump’s campaign, with Guilfoyle raising money on the false premise that the election was rigged. They spoke at the Ellipse rally on January 6, which preceded the Capitol attack.

Last month, CNN reported that the panel had already subpoenaed more than 100 people’s phone data as part of its inquiry.

In some situations, communication providers have informed the targets of select committee subpoenas, resulting in various lawsuits to prevent the panel from acquiring the call detail records.

“He’s not losing any sleep over it,” a source acquainted with Eric Trump’s opinion on the subpoena of his call records said.

Guilfoyle’s attorney stated she had not been informed that a subpoena for her data had been issued. The subpoena is “of no consequence to her because she has absolutely nothing to hide or be concerned about,” according to the attorney, Joseph Tacopina.

According to a person familiar with the investigation, the committee is seriously interested in Eric Trump because of his role in the events of January 6, particularly actions linked to “Stop the Steal.” Eric Trump spoke at the Ellipse event on January 6, repeating his father’s tweet branding rally attendees “patriots” and disputing President Joe Biden’s victory.

The panel has “firsthand testimony” that Ivanka Trump visited the Oval Office on at least two occasions to attempt to persuade her father to intervene in the Capitol attack, according to Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney, the committee’s top Republican.
