Brutal Death of Edgardo Rodríguez
More than five months after the brutal death of Edgardo Rodríguez, the New York police continue to search for his attackers.
Rodriguez, a 66-year-old homeless man, was severely beaten in East Harlem in May and died in the hospital three months later in August. This morning the NYPD again asked for the public’s help in solving the case, showing a photo of Rodríguez on Twitter.
Rodríguez was found beaten in the early morning of May 24, 2022 in the rear of the “Taft NYCHA” development located at 70 East 115 Street. He had trauma to his face and body, Fox News recalled.
EMS paramedics sent him to “NYC Health and Hospitals / Harlem” in stable condition, but his health became complicated. He was later transferred to “Mount Sinai Hospital” for additional medical care, until he died on August 18, having turned 67 while hospitalized.
The New York City Police Department determined that a group of men approached Rodriguez and began physically assaulting him for an unknown reason. They fled and have not been caught.
No arrests have been made or suspects identified. Anyone with information should call 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) and in Spanish 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). Also through crimestoppers.nypdonline.org or by text to 274637 (CRIMES), followed by TIP577. All communications are strictly confidential.
Also in August 2022, a yellow cab driver was beaten to death by passengers who tried to rob him in Queens. And in July, a 51-year-old Hispanic man died after spending several days in the hospital for some blows he received when he was assaulted by a young Latino man in the Bronx.
In a similar case, at the end of May, Víctor Vega, a 61-year-old man, died five days after falling when he was violently punched while walking on a Brooklyn street, near his home. NYPD video captured two suspects in that dramatic attack.
