COLORADO (Washington Insider Magazine) – Aurora police said a person suspected of shooting and killing a lady and injuring 2 people inside a Colorado church on Friday was shot and killed by officers Wednesday afternoon.

Jose De Jesus Montoya Villa, 31, has been provisionally identified as the victim of a traffic stop during a “crime spree” on Wednesday, according to police. His identification will be confirmed by the coroner’s office.

In connection with the killing at the Iglesia Faro De Luz on Friday, a warrant for Montoya Villa’s arrest had been issued. According to NBC NEWS, the shooting that killed 1 individual and injured two others occurred during a gathering of roughly 20 individuals.

Montoya Villa had a familial relationship with one of the gunshot victims, according to police.

The spree started at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday, when police got reports that a person had fired rounds in a parking lot, injuring one guy. According to police, the suspect reportedly stole a car with a pistol and was involved in a hit-and-run accident.

A guy fitting the description of the car theft suspect robbed a liquor shop shortly after 4 p.m., according to police.

Another individual was carjacked near an expressway at 4:30 p.m., and authorities discovered the stolen car minutes later.

“The officers attempted to make a stop on the car, were confronted by this armed male, shots were fired by the police,” said police Agent Matthew Longshore.

According to authorities, a pistol was found at the scene of the shooting.

Officers did not discover the identity of the guy killed in the shooting until they arrived at the hospital, according to Longshore.

The man who was killed in the parking area had non-life-threatening injuries. There were no major injuries recorded, and no cops were hurt.

The shooting will be investigated by a multi-agency team. According to Longshore, the inquiry will look into whether the individual murdered by police fired at the cops.

According to officials, the two policemen who discharged their firearms were carrying body cams. They’ve been placed on administrative leave with pay.
