(Washington Insider Magazine) —The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) denounced this Friday that it has suffered “violent racist attacks” on its profile on the social network Instagram.
As reported by the CBF in a statement, comments were recorded that “compared Brazilian players and fans to monkeys,” as they also did on the profile of Real Madrid forward Rodrygo Goes.
The CBF assured that “this type of crime will not be tolerated” and reported that the events have already been reported to the Police to “identify and punish the authors” of the comments on the Instagram account that has 17.2 million followers.
“Our fight will continue and will not be interrupted by acts like these (…) There will be no truce. The fight against prejudice is one of the most important flags of the current administration,” stated the CBF.
In that sense, the CBF indicated that it contacted Instagram and that it sent a couple of letters to FIFA and Conmebol reporting what happened.
Ednaldo Rodrigues, president of the CBF, said he was proud to be “the first black person, of indigenous descent, to occupy the presidency of the CBF” and stressed that he continues with his commitment to “transform Brazilian football into a healthy place.”
“I will never deviate from my commitments, nor will I allow myself to be intimidated by criminals, racists, xenophobes and corrupt people who wander in the shadows,” Rodrigues said.
This wave of insults was provoked shortly after the spicy match between Brazil and Argentina played last Tuesday at the Maracaná, corresponding to the sixth day of the South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, where the albiceleste won 0-1 in what was the Brazil’s first home defeat in a World Cup qualifying phase.
