Brooklyn Man Fatally struck a Motorcyclists
A Brooklyn man fatally struck a motorcyclist before his vehicle rolled over, the driver allegedly rammed the victim after a heated fight a few minutes before the car crash, authorities said.
The suspect was identified as Derrick McCarthy, 27, facing manslaughter charges for the accident that occurred on October 17, 2021 on Ralph Ave. at Clarendon Ave. in East Flatbush.
The subject is accused of intentionally ramming an inactive 2021 Talon motorcycle driven by Joshua Dion Taylor, New York police stated.
MacCarthy’s car spun out of control after colliding with the motorcycle. He jumped over a nearby curb and landed on the sidewalk against a chain-link fence.
EMS transported Taylor to Brookdale University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. McCarthy was transported to Brookdale, in critical condition, until he was released after recovering.
NYPD investigators investigating what happened before and after the crash learned that the defendant and the victim physically fought on Ralph Ave., a few blocks from the scene.
As the two fought, Taylor got away, got on his motorcycle and sped down Ralph Ave, officials involved in the case said.
McCarthy, who lives near Canarsie, ran to his Infiniti vehicle and hit the gas pedal after Taylor to Claredon Road, where he rear-ended the motorcycle, officials said.
Officers arrested McCarthy on Friday for the homicide.
