US (Washington Insider Magazine)—The National Border Patrol Council endorsed the Border Act of 2024 on Monday, stating it would reduce illegal border crossings and allow agents to focus on enforcing immigration laws. The bill has garnered attention for its bipartisan support despite strong opposition from conservatives.

Brandon Judd, the council’s president, emphasized that while the bill isn’t perfect, it represents progress over the current situation. He hopes for its swift passage, highlighting how it would provide Border Patrol agents with critical legal authorities to combat illegal immigration.

However, the bill faces significant pushback from House Republicans, with Speaker Mike Johnson calling it a “waste of time.” Senate leaders remain divided, but the Border Patrol union’s endorsement is seen as a key development in the ongoing debate over U.S. border security.
