Belgium (Washington Insider Magazine) – Belgium has approved its largest-ever military aid package to Ukraine, worth €92 million, despite criticism over the age and condition of some equipment.

What’s Included in the Military Aid?

The aid package consists of:

  • AMRAAM missiles for air defense
  • Light anti-tank weapons (LAW) and anti-tank grenades
  • Minimi machine guns and Scar automatic rifles
  • 80 Iveco LMV Lynx vehicles & 150 Volvo trucks (being phased out by Belgium’s military)

Belgian Defense Minister Ludivine Dedonder assured that all provided equipment is operational and deployable.

What’s Missing?

  • No tanks – Belgium lacks stock and couldn’t source operational ones.
  • No fighter jets – Ukraine has not requested them from Belgium.

Russian Diamond Trade Concerns

Prime Minister Alexander De Croo highlighted efforts to counter the rerouting of Russian diamond exports through non-European countries. Belgium is collaborating with the EU on new trade restrictions.
