America250 Launches ‘America’s Field Trip’ Student Contest with BNY Mellon

USA (Washington Insider Magazine)— America250, the official initiative for the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, has announced the launch of America’s Field Trip, a nationwide student contest supported by BNY Mellon. The program offers students unique behind-the-scenes field trips to iconic historical and cultural sites across the United States, such as the Statue of Liberty, Yellowstone National Park, and the National Archives.

Contest Overview

Students in grades 3–12 are invited to submit artwork, videos, or essays responding to the question, “What does America mean to you?”

Awards include:

  • First Place: 75 winners and a chaperone will receive free travel, lodging, and exclusive experiences at select sites.
  • Second Place: $500 cash prizes for outstanding entries.

The contest is open from March 4 to May 17, 2024. Winners will be announced in June, and field trips begin in July.

Unforgettable Experiences

Selected first-place students will visit iconic locations, including:

  • A guided tour of the Statue of Liberty in New York City.
  • A weekend adventure at Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado.
  • Private tours of the Smithsonian museums and the National Archives in Washington, D.C.
  • Historic explorations at Fort Point near the Golden Gate Bridge and Boston’s USS Constitution.

America’s Field Trip is a unique opportunity to inspire young minds while celebrating the nation’s history and future,” said America250 Chair Rosie Rios.
