USA (Washington Insider Magazine)—Residents have left the Democratic States, according to new data from the U.S. Census Bureau. According to data, New York, California, and many other Democratic states lost the most locals in 2023.

Population trends are moving to pre-pandemic norms. The number of annual deaths dropped last year, and migration retreated to patterns not seen since before 2020, according to the new Vintage 2023 population estimates shown by the U.S. Census Bureau.

The nation accumulated more than 1.6 million people this past year. It increases by 0.5% to 334,914,895. More states registered population growth in 2023 than in any year since the start of the pandemic.

Earlier this week, The bureau’s report revealed the report. The report stated eight states, all but one governed by Democratic governors, registered a fall in their population this year.

New York, known for the Statue of Liberty, has lost the most residents, around 101,984. It followed by California with 75,423, according to Vintage 2023 population assessments.

Around 32,000 residents left Illinois, while Louisiana lost 14,274. Further, Pennsylvania has also lost 10,408 residents. Three other states saw fewer population drops. Oregon lost 6,021 people, Hawaii lost 4,261 residents, and West Virginia lost 3,964 people. West Virginia is the only one of the eight states with a Republican governor.

These states had a collective residents loss of 249,161 in 2023. It was less than last year, at 509,789. The Census Bureau reported that many of these states have lost population annually since 2020. However, their population declines have slowed.

Four states that lost the most people are also classified as the top 10 of the most populous in the nation. On July 1, 2023, California had the largest population, with around 39 million residents. Texas follows it with 30.5 million residents and Florida with 22.6 million. New York ranked fourth with 19.5 million residents, followed by Pennsylvania with almost 13 million and Illinois with around 12.5 million.

This year’s national population increase is still historically down but is a tiny increase from the 0.4% increase in 2022 and the 0.2% increase in 2021.

New York Representative Elise Stefanik, chair of the House Republican Conference, expressed New Yorkers were exiting the state due to the state’s “Far Left Democrat leadership.” “Far Left Kathy Hochul and Albany Democrats have made New York so unlivable that our state leads the nation in population loss with more than 102,000 residents leaving in one year alone,” Stefanik spoke in a statement.

“With record crime and cost of living far beyond the national average, New York’s mass exodus is far from over. Suppose Far Left Democrats in Albany don’t start putting the safety and prosperity of New Yorkers before their extremist agenda. In that case, no more residents will be left to tax and fund their radical, socialist programs.” Newsweek has reached Hochul’s office for analysis via email.

New Jersey, which has a Democratic governor, registered a population peak of 30,024 in 2023 after losing residents the prior year.

The Census Bureau’s report also noted that four southern states, three of them governed by Republican governors, regarded as for a majority of the nation’s population increase in 2023. Florida, North Carolina, Texas and Georgia recorded 67% of the nation’s population increase in 2023, down from 93% in 2022.

Texas witnessed the most significant numeric change in the country. It counted 473,453 people, followed by Florida, which counted 365,205 citizens.

South Carolina, another Republican state, witnessed the most noteworthy percentage increase of 1.7 % in population in 2023. Florida, Idaho, Texas and North Carolina followed it.

“U.S. migration returning to pre-pandemic levels and a drop in deaths are driving the nation’s growth,” Kristie Wilder, a demographer in the Population Division at the Census Bureau, stated in a report. “Although births declined, this was tempered by the near 9% decrease in deaths. Ultimately, fewer deaths paired with rebounding immigration resulted in the nation experiencing its largest population gain since 2018.”
