(Washington Insider Magazine) -I know it’s been a while since this visceral and bloody masterpiece was released in theaters, but we need to appreciate it a little bit more because it’s so damn good. For those completely unaware of the film’s existence, Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool/Wade Wilson gets integrated into the MCU when the TVA (Time Variance Authority) snags him up to become an Avenger. However, things get murky when Wilson finds out that his universe is on the brink of collapse because that specific universe lost his anchor being, which, in this case, is the Wolverine and Wilson goes on a treasure hunt to find a new multiversal Wolverine to help him save his universe.
With all of that in mind, it’s only fair to talk about why this Marvel movie is such a unique gem in Hollywood.
It’s Plain Fun
Seeing a Hollywood movie that works solely for being funny and entertaining for audiences is more than a breath of fresh air. It doesn’t take itself too seriously like other Marvel movies because it doesn’t have to. With the presence of Deadpool, it can be something more than a straight-forward MCU film which utilizes as many jokes as it can possibly acquire.
After six years of waiting for a threequel, Ryan Reynolds comes back with full force and vigor in his red and black suit with some fun-loving and incredible passion for his role and it is, every bit, worth it.
It Brings Together Wolverine and Deadpool
This is what fans of the comics have been waiting for for years. They have been waiting to see the merc with the mouth and the Wolverine together fighting side by side on the silver screen. Seeing two opposing forces on screen is a mismatch made in heaven, with Hugh Jackman’s tour-de-force and gruff take on the Wolverine as usual and Reynolds’ campy and whimsical portrayal as the best mercenary ever.
It’s no wonder this movie made a titanic amount of money at the box office and blew the other competition out of the water. If you give the fans what they want, they will flock to theaters.
The MCU Goes Into Vulgar Territories
This is the first R-rated film in the MCU and it spares no expense while pulling several punches. With this newfound and rare rating for Disney and Marvel, the film and its leads never hold anything back and for good reason. It creates such a lush yet vulgar atmosphere for the MCU to cover new ground which helps make it stick out in the pantheon of films.
Its bloodlust and ill-tempered and raunchy premise are something that could easily make $1 billion at the box office and it has the best soundtrack too. Yes, that also includes the “Guardians of the Galaxy” trilogy.
It Sets Up A Bigger Part of the MCU
We all know that Secret Wars is coming soon and it is set to be a whole lot bigger than “Endgame” and having more characters in the mix only makes the stakes higher and more interesting for viewers and seeing two of the coolest X-Men in the MCU makes for some exciting news when we suspect what Marvel is going to set up in the future.
Hopefully, Marvel doesn’t betray any characters, in the process.
