US Heatwave Continues, Reaches 125+ Degrees in CA (2023)

US (Washington Insider Magazine) –  If you think there’s a US heatwave happening, you’re absolutely right. Temperatures have been hitting record highs across states, leaving residents in turmoil. Here’s what you need to know about the US heatwave of 2023.

What To Know: Where Is The US Heatwave The Worst?

While states like Nevada, Colorado, and others reached their own “personal bests,” we saw tremendous heat in the Southern area of California—such as in Death Valley National Park, where staffers noted that the digital thermometer hit 130 degrees on Sunday.

Many noted the volatility of a digital thermometer, noting that the posted high should be the value that climate ecologists should be aware of. That number was just a few degrees less — clocking in at 128 degrees Fahrenheit.

What Is The Weather Like Elsewhere?

While the US heatwave continues to plague states in the Southwest, we’re seeing the opposite across the nation by the Eastern Seaboard. Vermont experienced intense flooding last week and this week, with similar conditions causing five deaths to occur in Pennsylvania.

Is Global Warming To Blame For The US Heatwave

It’s only natural for some to consider that global warming could be to blame for the record high temps and the sweltering humidity.

The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) has gone on record stating that Americans should be prepared to continue to weather these record highs as time goes on, since the effects of global warming is projected to be far more intense over the next few decades.

However, just because the US heatwave hit this week, doesn’t mean that it will be this way forever. The WMO stated that the weather shifts many states are experiencing at the moment are caused by an upper-level ridge of pressure that is sweeping the country — one that should resolve over the next week and a half.

For now, residents do their best to stay cool and collected, despite the sky-high temperatures.

How To Stay Cool During A Heatwave

Staying cool during the US heatwave should be top priority for all US residents. Heatstroke and heat exhaustion can be avoided with the proper precautions in place.
