Qatar (Washington Insider Magazine) – Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Iraq have strongly condemned Israel’s recent land grab in Syria, near the Golan Heights, marking a significant escalation in regional tensions. The Israeli military’s actions, which include air strikes and the seizure of buffer zones, have sparked outrage across the Arab world, with all four countries calling for international intervention.
The Qatari Foreign Ministry labeled the move as a “dangerous development” and a blatant violation of Syria’s sovereignty. Saudi Arabia echoed similar concerns, emphasizing Israel’s disregard for international law, while Iraq highlighted the severity of the breach and urged the UN to take action. Iran also criticized the land seizure, calling it a “flagrant violation” of the UN Charter.
The conflict intensified when Israel seized a buffer zone created by the 1974 ceasefire with Syria after the fall of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s government. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Israel’s control over the Golan Heights is permanent, following the US’s recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the region under former President Donald Trump.
The United Nations has also raised alarms, with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres’ spokesperson denouncing the Israeli actions as a violation of the disengagement agreement. Meanwhile, Israel has continued its air strikes across Syria, targeting military sites in Damascus, Latakia, and other key locations.
With tensions rising, the international community is closely monitoring Israel’s actions and the potential for further escalation in the region.
