MLS Shatters Season Attendance Record with Messi’s Arrival

US (Washington Insider Magazine) -The MLS officially closed the 2023 regular season this Saturday after 34 days and one of the analyzes that drew the most attention was that the historical record for attendance in a complete campaign was broken.

A statement published this Sunday by the league confirmed that MLS stadiums received a total of 10,900,804 fans in 2023, increasing the number reached in 2022.

Just this Saturday there were almost 500,000 more fans who closed the date and made official the record of presence in the 30 teams that make up the league.

In addition, the American competition also broke its match attendance record this year, with 82,110 people attending the Rose Bowl stadium in Pasadena, California for the Los Angeles derby between Los Angeles FC and the Los Angeles Galaxy.

However, one of the keys was undoubtedly the arrival last July of Lionel Messi at Inter Miami, which unleashed a madness among fans who wanted to see the Argentine star.

In fact, the crowd that wanted to attend the venues to see Messi play was forced to pay for tickets that multiplied their regular value by up to 10 due to the high demand for tickets for these commitments.

Despite the new historical record, the fans will continue to increase values in 2023 from this Wednesday when the wild card series is played and until December 11 when the two champion teams of each conference meet in the MLS final.
