Europe (Washington Insider Magazine) – On December 3, 2024, the International Criminal Court (ICC) and the Government of Poland signed a significant agreement on the enforcement of sentences. This agreement allows individuals convicted by the ICC to serve their prison sentences in Poland, upon the Court’s decision and Poland’s acceptance.

The agreement was signed by ICC President Judge Tomoko Akane and Poland’s Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Justice, Ms. Maria Ejchart, during the ICC Assembly of States Parties meeting in The Hague. President Akane expressed appreciation for Poland’s continued support of international criminal justice and highlighted the importance of such agreements in ensuring the Court’s operations.
