(Washington Insider Magazine)-The Federal Bureau of Investigations invoked a Grand Jury subpoena in an attempt to attain sensitive classified documents from former President Donald Trump. Mar-A-Lago, the private property in Florida owned by former president Donald Trump, was the holding house of many national security documents subpoenaed in June of 2022 – and was said to continue housing additional sensitive documents not surrendered in the spring.
The uncertainty of those classified documents has initiated further investigation. This past week, the prompt seize of documents was a result of a valid informant that insisted further confidential documents concerning National Security were still being kept at Mar-a-Lago.
Information from the Federal Bureau of Investigation was credible enough to spark an immediate search warrant for the property.
The first subpoena was issued to former President Donald Trump in June of 2022. The revealed June 2020 subpoena by the Grand Jury concluded Mr. Donald Trump was compliant with the requested details and peacefully surrendered all documents belonging to the National Archives and security surveillance footage.
The search included a cooperative inspection of Donald Trump’s storage locker, where mementos are kept from his reign as United States President. The warrant search of his Mar-a-Lago home was witnessed by several secret service members and conducted by federal agents and a senior Justice Department lawyer.
The August 8th Grand Jury subpoena search warrant resulted in the retrieval of several boxes of material, including 11 sets of classified documents and 4 sets marked as “top secret/SCI,” which is known as the highest presidential classification level.
The lack of compliance with the law, which requires all top-secret documents to be stored in a secured Government facility and vault, could result in criminal charges.
However, the Justice Department has claimed it is too early to formally charge Mr. Trump with illegally storing confidential files or possible espionage.
Due to the sensitive subject matter within those documents found at Mar-a-Lago, a deeper investigation has been fueled by the Federal Bureau Investigation. With controversy surrounding the capricious raid on the Mar-a-Lago estate, Federal Judge Bruce Reinhart plans to release part of the affidavit for the search warrant.
