Christ Cathedral Begins Construction on St. Callistus Chapel and Crypts

(Transatlantic Today) – The Diocese of Orange is set to begin construction on the St. Callistus Chapel and Crypts, an 11,500-square-foot sacred space beneath Christ Cathedral in Garden Grove. The project will honor St. Callistus parishioners and serve as a resting place for bishops.

  • Chapel & Crypts: Space for 40 bishops’ burials and 1,000 columbarium niches for funeral urns.
  • Modern Byzantine Design: Featuring gold accents, mosaics, statues, paintings, and tapestries.
  • Multi-Use Space: Hosting Masses, weddings, funerals, and baptisms with seating for 250 guests.
  • Historical Legacy: Includes a shrine to St. Callistus and a Diocese of Orange history chapel.man
