As Russia suffers setbacks, Biden to call for Western solidarity

WARSAW (Washington Insider Magazine) – President Joe Biden will deliver what he hopes will be a major speech here on Saturday addressing the implications for the world and the route forward for a battle in Ukraine which is only likely to escalate.

Biden plans to speak with Ukrainian migrants who have surged into Poland before his address. According to NBC NEWS, over 300,000 migrants have reached Warsaw, where Biden will deliver his address, with many finding temporary refuge in a sports complex and a constant flow continuing to enter into the city’s railway station each day.

According to Jake Sullivan, Biden’s national security adviser, Biden will speak about the stakes of the moment, the intensity of the journey ahead, what the war in Ukraine signifies for the world, and why it is critical that the civilized world maintain unity and help resolve the Russian aggression.

The address will come at the end of 3 days in Europe, during which Biden had what might be some of the most important meetings of his administration with international leaders, in the hopes of cementing their solidarity behind a persistent economic campaign on Russia.

As the war reached its 2nd month, White House sources admitted that they were prepared for a lengthy, more violent war, and that Biden’s meeting and address would be used to set the basis for the road ahead.

This week, the US announced a series of actions aimed at increasing pressure on Russia and assisting Ukraine, including new sanctions against over 400 Russians and Russian organizations, $1 billion in humanitarian aid, intends to accept 100,000 Ukrainian refugees, and the formation of a response team to reduce European reliance on Russian energy resources.

But, before departing Brussels, Biden admitted that his measures would do nothing to discourage Putin in the short term. Rather, the president stated that if the sanctions imposed on Russia by the US and Europe are maintained and applied, Putin will be forced to stop the conflict in Ukraine.

With far more than 2 million Ukrainians coming into Poland so far, Poland has bore the weight of the refugee crisis. While Poland has embraced the migrants with welcoming arms, permitting them to work and offering health care and education for their children, the large inflow has already begun to strain places such as Warsaw, in which the population is believed to have increased by 300,000.
